Busy is not a new word in this modern society. But how busy can you be in the office? Recently, I experienced most ever busy period. Actually I guess it's not the hardest time I ever had, but for the long lasting busy months, we are exhausted, and felt when this situation can be ended.
In foreign banks, our low season usually is in the year-end. We can have couple months of happy time. After budget cycle in November and before Chinese New Year, except year-end closing, there won't be too many busy things or tough tasks for us to finish. But it's not the case this year unfortunately. Acquisition legal day one was on the first of December, hey, boss, it's really terrible. Even without acquisition, we finance people already need to be fully focus on year-end closing, nevertheless now we had another huge and difficult task to accomplish. Two entities, two sets of general ledger, two different ways to run business, two parallel of pricing... Too many many TWOs. We absorbed it. Starting from Aug, we started BAU budget cycle, and following acquisition company budget in Oct, with lacking of any know-how of this company. When we finally sent out both result in Nov, one week happy time did come to us, but just for one week only. We need to put our full energy on year-end closing for BAU, and study how to manage the new acquisition when legal day one is approaching. This is long and tough process we ever faced. From zero, we like a new born baby, everything is new to us, strange to us, of course sometimes is amazing to us, and surprising to us. Though tough, but try to enjoy in this learning process. Anyway, we finished all, with satisfied quality. And it is already in mid-Jan. While we are looking forward to a good rest before CNY, a bomb comes beyond our expectation. Most foreign banks will conduct full year forecast every month, it's not new, but usually not in the first month of the year. However, it happened. And that's now why we are suffering.
I guess, we never had enough rest from last busy period. And one after another. Now, we are exhausted. But there is deadline ahead, can we stop? NO. Everyone tries so hard to do as best as we could. One push another and also be pushed by others.
